My daughter wants to be a country star?? Part 1

Yep, that pretty much sums it up!  My daughter is 17-years old and a Senior in High School.  She's been singing since she was 12 years old and she started writing songs and playing the guitar at 14.  For her 14th birthday, we went to a Taylor Swift concert at Jobing.com arena and after the concert she said, "Mom, that's what I want to do when I grow up.  I always wanted to do that but after seeing this concert, I realize that I CAN!!"  That's when she expressed an interest in learning the guitar.  Scott gave her his guitar, showed her how to play a few chords and gave her a sheet with all the chords so she could learn them all on her own.  That day she showed us her first song that she wrote with the guitar.  A beautiful, wonderful song with the few chords that Scott had showed her.  She began to practice, practice, practice like it was her full time job!    She practiced several hours every single day (and she still does).  Her singing grew stronger, her guitar playing grew insanely good, and her song writing hit the roof (I know, I know... biased mom here... bear with me!)  It's been 3 years and she's written over 500 songs.

When she first started telling people at 14 that she wanted to move to Nashville to become a country singer, people would say things like, "I hope you have a plan B" and "it's hard and most people don't make it" or they would laugh at her.  It would really frustrate her to hear people so negative about something she was so passionate about.  But she would continue to practice and perform.  She never slowed down on her practicing and her talent and ability started to snowball.  Now she's getting the attention of professionals and record labels.

Now that she's about ready to graduate from High School and this dream of moving to Nashville is becoming a reality, it's really started to hit us...  OUR DAUGHTER WANTS TO BE A COUNTRY STAR!!  Now, most people who know her well aren't surprised at all and send her off with well wishes, support, prayers, love, excitement etc.   Of course, there are some doubters and naysayers.  It's especially funny to see people's faces when they ask what college in Nashville she's going to and she says, she's going to become a country singer  *cricket cricket.*   hahaha

We've always known that Jessica was going to make the bold move to Nashville, but now we found out that Justin is going with her to help her!  That just thrills my HEART!!    Jessica, singer/songwriter and Justin as her manager.  He's already doing a lot to help her career!  More on that on Part 2 of my blog.

I stand in amazement as I watch the doors opening up for her and watch her dreams unfold.  No, she hasn't made it yet BUT she's had a lot of neat opportunities and she's met a lot of insanely awesome people.  AND she hasn't even left yet!!  haha  My mommy prediction is that it's not a matter of *IF* she's going to make it but *WHEN.*  LOL  That's just my thoughts as her mom.  But no matter what, she's going to have a blast.  They both are.  They'll learn new things, meet great people and grow closer to God.  What an adventure they'll have doing what isn't the norm and doing it together!!

I'm going to write part 2 of my blog after her two songs come out next month.  It'll help promote her songs but it'll also tell the back story of how these recordings with Lancifer came to be.

So stay tuned for more!!  :)  ...And thanks for reading!!  :)
